VISUAL ARTS AT TAC
“A nation without arts has lost one of its lifelines” Mustafa Kemal ATATURK
At TAC, we offer Visual Arts and Music electives for two hours for grade 9 and 10, one hour for grade 11 per week. The purpose of these courses is to improve student background knowledge about art and music terminologies, and to teach them how to create genuine, new products.
Application of knowledge and practice play an important role in the art teacher’s guidance of students towards self-discovery and improvement. Students also develop an understanding and knowledge about art history.
The historical progression of arts throughout various periods including antic age, medieval age, renaissance, baroque, rococo, modern and post-modern is studied with the help of presentations. Links are drawn between the social structure of each period and its artistic production in order to convey the importance of arts on societies throughout time. According to the levels, the topics of study include interdisciplinary activities, charcoal drawing, chromatics, pattern-composition with acrylic, stained glass coloring, water color techniques, Mandala philosophy and training. The exhibitions opened each semester which take certain artistic periods as themes reinforce student learning.
Our main objective is to help students find their talent areas in arts, to improve their understanding of the basic arts terminology, to be able to converse about, share and extend to others their appreciation of the arts.
SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Outside of the scheduled course periods, there are special workshops for those students who have discovered their personal areas of strength in arts. These students are encouraged to share their artwork through personal exhibitions where they can demonstrate their personal development in arts to the school community.
CLUB
Interested students do extended work under the arts club of TAC, TAC ART, where they are further encouraged to improve their artistic skills.
I think that every artistic feeling in life should be accompanied by music...”
