Journey to the World of Animals

As TAC’s Second Foreign Language Department, we visited the Tarsus Zoo.

At Tarsus American College, which places strong emphasis on experiential learning, students are regularly encouraged to do group work through collective group activities. In the visit to the zoo, students improved their vocabulary by seeing the animals brought from different parts of the world, and learned their names in French and German.

TAC’s second foreign language teachers emphasized the co-existence of thousands of types of animals and living organisms in the world, as well as the importance of caring for animals. The students reinforced their learning in the trip by preparing a project on “Animals” for their German and French classess.

This trip helped make students more active learners of second foreign language by developing the skills of collecting data and of meaningful, long-term retention of the learned material.
