NOTES FROM THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY 2016

 

  • The ceremony started at 19:00 with the procession of the teachers.
  • Following this procession, our students descended the Stickler steps, accompanied by great enthusiasm and applause, walking to the ceremony area.
  • After a moment’s silence and the National Anthem, the protocole members were announced.
  • The opening remarks were presented by TAC principal Günseli Yüksel, and then our headmaster Andrew Leathwood shared his emotions and thoughts with the guests and the graduating class.
  • Following the remarks of the Principal and the Headmaster, the keynote speech was given by Hüseyin Özkaya, a ’80 graduate currently the Founding General Manager of Odea Bank.
  • After the keynote, one of the most exciting moments of the ceremony: the announcement of top three students of academic merit in the class of 2016.

 

Graduation Honors

  • Third place student: Yusuf Karakaya
  • Salutatorian: Emre Necdet Sezgin
  • Valedictorian: Onur Cem Mete

 

Our school doctor Mr. Ali Cerrahoğlu, also the President of the TAC Alumni Association, presented the certificates of the Alumni Association and announced the contributions to the brick scholarship fund on the behalf of these students.

 

Onur Cem Mete, the valedictorian of the class of 2016 then shared his thoughts with the audience.

 

The recipient of the Ertan Dumanlı Exemplary Student award, which is a highly prestigious award presented to a student who completed grade 11 program, was announced by Dr. Ali Cerrahoğlu, the school doctor as Erez Büyükyılmaz, a boarding student.

 

After this award was presented, the graduation certificates, the stage was ready for the handover of the Student Council flags with Ege İzgialp handed over his presidency to Efe Çelebi from the class of 2017.

 

The next part of the ceremony saw the presentation of the graduation certificates to the class of 2016 with the letters written by each student themselves five years ago while they were in prep class, as well as the gifts prepared by the Health and Education Foundation.

 

After all graduates have received their certificates, they moved to the Stickler steps, sang their school anthem and the “bom” chant, threw their caps being part of a memorable snapshot. 

 

Later our students, parents, and guests took many snapshots and had an enjoyable time at the special reception.
