TAC MUN Club

Selin Keşaf   9/E   331

The month of December started really productively for me as TAC MUN club attended TIMUN, an international MUN conference lead in Uskudar American College. It was a new experience for most of us, including me and most of the group members.

However, it was still productive and a lot of fun. On the first day, we attended the opening ceremony. We had the chance to meet other delegates and chairs. On the next day we wore our formal clothes and went to our committees. That was the time my biggest fear came true! When I looked up my committee on the internet, it was SC which meant Security Council. So, I researched on SC topics, even wrote a resolution on one of the topics. However, when I went to the SC room, my name wasn’t there and they told me that I was actually in SPC, which meant Special Conference. My whole world collapsed! I went to the SPC room, without knowing anything. Despite the negative start, I dealt with the situation and I think it went pretty well. I even added a clause and gave a speech on the floor. It went well for my fellow delegates, too.

Our days were tiring, as we woke up when it was dark outside and debated only one resolution for at least two hours (there were five resolutions only in my sub-committee, SPC-2). We also had to cope with Istanbul’s freezing cold weather and traffic that drove us crazy. However, I can honestly say that it was one of the most self-improving experiences of my life time. I had so much fun that I sometimes forgot about being hungry, which normally never happens! Without a doubt I will attend many more MUN conferences.

I hope all of them be at least as fun as this one. I wish success to the TAC MUN family for all future conferences.
