TAC Student, Duru Okuyaz, Brings International Championship Trophy Home from Open Chess Championship

 

 

Travelled from Tarsus to Lisbon and said, “Check and Mate”!

 

Our Prep student, Duru Okuyaz, became the champion at the Open Chess Tournament in Portugal, where chess players from 32 countries were competing.

At the Open Chess Tournament in Lisbon, Duru Okuyaz became the champion of the U16 1800 ELO category, becoming the pride of both Tarsus and Turkey.

At the tournament where 167 players from 32 countries competed, six athletes, who represented Turkey, attained an impressive total of +323,3 ELO. WCM Duru Okuyaz, a TAC prep student, demonstrated high merit and skills in each step of the tournament, and became the pride of Tarsus and Turkey. Okuyaz earned the top rank in both the U16 and 1800 ELO categories, while winning +132,8 ELO. We congratulate Duru and wish her continued success in her extremely promising chess career.
