"Professions, People and Stories”

During World Story Day on February 14, TAC’s Turkish Literature Department looked for the concrete traces of various “professions and lives” in the history layered streets of Tarsus, with a focus on ”story as a voice of life”. The aim was to explore those professions which we encounter every day, yet may not know much about: ayran maker, tailor, chicken seller, coffee shop waiter, ornament seller, and others… Each of the people involved in these professions have their own unique past which gives them a unique perspective into their own unique story. Some dreamed about retirement, fatiqued by life’s load, and others did not even had time to talk, where their silence was still a response and told us a story. The student reflections about the workshop/Tarsus trip led by Mr. Önder Şit, the Chair of the Turkish Literature Department, will find life on the pages of a story book in the near future.
