Balkan Badminton Series
TSEV Elementary School PE teacher Yüksel Başaran and Headmaster Andrew Leathwood traveled to Iasi, Romania for an international badminton tournament from April 28-30 as part of the Turkish Veterans Badminton Team. This was a very high level event, with over 230 competitors from many countries, including Turkey, Moldova, Slovenia, India and the host Romania. The competition was fierce but friendly – a combination of sport and friendship. They represented Turkey and our schools well, with Yuksel taking home the silver medal in mens doubles in his age group, and Andrew winning silver in mixed doubles and also in the team event for his group. It is their hope they will serve as examples to our students of the value of a lifelong commitment to activity and sport.
