TAC Students at the Geography Field Trip

A group of 15 students from grade 9 and 10, under the supervision of their geography teachers Gülden Manav, Nail Baran and philosophy teacher Gülşah Yücedağ visited Cappadocia region for a field trip on May 23-24 to extend their learning of "internal and external forces in geology" beyond the geography classroom.

In their explorations, the group was accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necati Bekir Altın, an instructor at the Department of Geography at Niğde University, who is the father of Ayşegül Yıldız Altın, a grade 11 student. TAC students learned from Altın that looking and seeing are two different things.

During the first day, students routed along Narlı Göl, Ihlara Vadisi, Derinkuyu Underground City and Üzümlü Church, following which they checked into their hotels, had dinner and went to Uçhisar which renders a marvellous skyline at night. On the second day after breakfast, they were given preparatory information about the sites to be visited by Dr. Altın and then hiked across Paşa Bağı, Zelve Valley, and Avanos.
