The Heart of European Youth Parliament Beats at TAC
TAC’s European Youth Parliament Club has completed TACEF III (Tarsus American College Education Forum), for which they have been working intensively since the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year. The student-run event held on the TAC campus on December 22nd-25th was marked by great effort and success on the part of the club members and the team of organizers.
Tarsus American College, the host of the event for the 3rd year, treated the guest delegates, committee chairs and media teams from 19 schools in Samsun, Kocaeli, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Hatay provinces to four memorable days.
On the first day of the education forum, the guest students played ice-breaker games on the historic campus of TAC. The second day started with a spectacular opening ceremony in the Talas Auditorium. The keynote speaker of the ceremony was Ongun Tan, TAC'98 graduate and the founder of Turkey's first and largest maker community, “Makers Turkiye”. He addressed the topics of digital competence, entrepreneurship and development of social skills with the students. He also provided advice about how to create an education system that is ready for the new century. During the intensive committee sessions, which lasted for two days, 8 committees prepared draft laws for the problems that need resolutions. At the general meeting on the last day of the conference, these drafts were first submitted for the approval of the General Assembly and then they were put forward for a vote. Ruled by the simple majority vote principle, six of these eight draft laws were passed successfully at the General Assembly of the Tarsus American College Education Forum.
At the closing ceremony, recognition plaques for participation were presented to guest schools while students and teachers were presented certificates of participation.
Emotional moments were experienced during the departure of guest schools from Tarsus.
We would like to thank the EYP club students, club advisors, administrators, our activity coordinator and the organizing team for their great efforts and their successful representation of TAC.
