Teachers’ Day Celebrations at TAC
Preparations for the Teachers' Day celebration on November 24th was managed by the TAC Student Council with help from the Second Foreign Language Department. The day was dedicated to a celebration of the teaching profession, one which touches the lives of individuals, and was filled with various events and a special ceremony where students demonstrated their gratitude to their teachers.
Our teachers have started the day with a beautiful breakfast jointly organized by the PTA and Student Council in the school canteen.
However, TAC Student Council had more in store in terms of surprises for their teachers’ pleasure. There were videos and a surprise gift: one for which students thought hard and long. In the end, they designed a wall clock for their teachers, personalized with each teacher’s name and including the phrases used by their teachers the most, such as "TGIF", "You have forgotten yourself!", "Just check your Engrade". Our teachers were very happy with thir creative gift.
At the Teachers' Day assembly at Talas auditorium where the entire school community gathered, we watched the videos prepared by our students for their teachers. The memorable thing about these videos was that every individual teacher at TAC received a personal Teachers’ Day celebration message from students. These were very touching moments for our teachers. In addition, the Turkish Drama Club's short play "When our Teachers Were Learners" also brought laughters to the audience as students made impressions of their teachers as they were students.
In the assembly we also paid tribute to retired teachers who haveworked for many years at TAC, graduting hundreds of students: English teacher Selçuk Biçer, Religion and Ethics Teacher Mustafa Asım Keskin, Turkish Literature Teacher Mustafa Nacar, Physical Education Teacher Nurcemal Eden, Physics Teacher Sami Isiksal, Physical Education Teacher Nejat Güngör and Turkish Literature Teacher Ahmet Karagözlü. Sitting on the stage for a special panel these veteran teachers of TAC shared their experiences, emphasizing how big the TAC family is and the school’s special and valuable place in their teaching careers. A recognition plaque was presented to them in memory of this day.
The assembly continued with the music performance of some of our teachers with their students. Everyone enjoyed and admired these quality performances. Following the gifts presented to all teachers by the school administration, snapshots were taken with all teachers onstage to make the event memorable.
Although it is not possible to show our appreciation to teachers, who are always committed to guiding, encouraging, helping, and educating their students for just one day of the year, we congratulate TAC students who appreciate the value of their teachers and worked hard to put these events together.
