TAC Basketball Players
You are competing on the same line as your abis who you used to see as giants, and now you leave them behind as you run by. However, the love and respect relationship between abis and their little brothers never changes. If this relationship lasts in an environment where you are not forced to show such love and respect, it means that it is a true abi-abla relationship.
At the 32nd reunion of TAC Basketball Players, there was the same atmosphere of love, respect and “mavra”. Many alumni members, from the most senior abi, Ali Abi (Zallak '68), to the youngest graduates, demonstrating love for TAC and basketball, were once again at home. The basketball game, which was on Friday, March 23rd, was the high school team vs. alumni team, and it drew a very excited and large audience. This excitement was reflected in the united chorus of the BOM chant right before the final game which was won (!) by the alumni team. Such sports events are very useful in exemplifying to current TAC students the unity between our brothers and sisters who studied in the same school but at different times. Such events bring us, the TAC alumni, closer to the school and current students of Tarsus American College.
On Saturday, there was a game between teams from Tarsus and Istanbul. At the end of this game, which became more and more competitive as the game progressed, the Istanbul team emerged as the winner with a final score of 21-19, thanks to Ali Zalak Abi's last shot. Because we hosted, we were able tolerate the unexpected defeat, for at least we saw our guests off to Istanbul after treating them to a great game and a victory.
As Necati Abi (Güler '75) stated during the meal after the game, two things which bring us together are TAC and a love for basketball. With the hope that both of these will be eternal, we invite you to our next game!
