National Library Week Celebrated at TAC

As part of the Library Week of March 26- April 1, Tarsus American College’s Korkut Beriker Library hosted educational, creative and enjoyable events during the whole week about reading and celebrating literature.

TAC students who met with Mürşide Toslak, one of our young authors, talked with her about fantasy-science-fiction literature, books, novel writing, publishing houses and publication process. The author who shared her experiences with our students, also had a smaller group talk with students who are passionate about writing. We thank Toslak again for joining us in this special week.

During the traditional "Treasure Hunt" contest, prep students tried to reach the clues and the big prize using research and resource-finding techniques they have learned during the year in their library classes. It was a competitive and exciting experience for all parties involved.

With the QR code event, we posed students a question about information literacy, libraries and reading on a daily basis. The students who provided the fastest responses to these questions were awarded gift certificates.

For the purpose of contributing to the community service endeavors, books who were discarded from the library catalogue were sold at all breaks. We thank all students, teachers and staff who contributed to these funds through their book purchases.

Also, a special "Promotional Videos for Awarded Books" contest was held. Competition criteria were shared with students and at the end of April, the jury presented the students in first three places their gift certificates.

TAC students celebrated the National Library Week with through these educational and enjoyable events assisted by various educational technologies.
