A Cultural Trip to Germany and France

The tour of France and Germany between 31.03 and 04.04.2018, supervised by Tuba Baykal, the Head of the Second Foreign Languages Department, contributed to the cultural development of our prep class students.

During the first two days of the trip, students explored the Louvre, one of the most popular historical museums in Paris. They also saw some cathedrals, the Eiffel Tower, and the Champs-Élysée which gave them a first hand opportunity to learn more about French culture. One whole day was dedicated to the visit to Disneyland, where students took part in fun events and shopping. At dinner, the students tasted the delicious staples of French cuisine, including the onion soup. The historic journey to Strasbourg also was a highlight for TAC’s prep students.

On the rest of the field trip, students were introduced to German technology. While touring the Mercedes Museum and the Mercedes factory in Stuttgart-Sindelfingen, students learned about the accomplished and advanced state of German technology in the automobile industry. This even led some to seriously consider studying mechanical engineering at a German university. With this trip, which included stops at the square in Munich where political rallies and speeches are held, the Woman Church at Munich Technical University, and the English Garden, students improved their perspective about the rest of the world.

Another great thing about this trip was that it enabled the students to speak the second foreign language they are currently learning at TAC. At the same time, they had the opportunity to experience history and science on site and in depth.
