An Enjoyable Picnic with Students and Teachers at ZİÇEV

Teachers and students from TAC met with the teachers and students of the Tarsus branch of ZİÇEV, the Foundation for the Training and Protection of Mentally Handicapped Children, to come together for a very enjoyable picnic.

TAC’s grade 10 peer counselors, Ulaş Kaygısız, Doğa Baykal, Deniz Salihoğlu, Sıla Çinbilgel, Tolga Mayaoğlu, Buse Orak, Gül Biçer and Elifnaz Kaya were accompanied by Mrs. Gülay Damar, Activity Coordinator, and Mrs. Özlem Algan, Psychological Counselor. In order to transfer the tradition of community service to students in lower grades, a group of preparatory class students also joined this event and were introduced to the warmth of the ZİÇEV family. The picnic, despite the scattered rain showers, was very fun, and ended with a delicious meal, followed by the games played in a traditional picnic such as dancing, skipping rope, and dodgeball.

Here are some impressions of our students, who are already waiting impatiently for the next meeting with ZİÇEV:

Buse Orak: The picnic event was with our friends from ZİÇEV and it was very enjoyable. Thanks to our friends, we had fun even though we lost our shoes in the mud and we had unexpected weather . Our friends from ZİÇEV offered us a dance show after we ate, and we played football together. A few hours passed with joy, and we expressed our wish to see other again with sincere smiles and waves goodbye.

Elifnaz Kaya: When we entered the picnic area, it was raining. We all chatted with each other under the shelters to build our beautiful memories. We played plenty of games in the rain. It was so nice to learn something from our friends at ZİÇEV and explore new things.

Lara Özbozdoğanlı: Today, I realized that even though they are different from us in the mental sense, when it comes to humanity and heartbeat, they are actually more human than we are. The beauty of their hearts is reflected in every act they do. It is reflected in such a beautiful way that you can understand how special and different all of them are, even in the shortest time.
