TAC Opens its Gates to the 130th Academic Year!

Tarsus American College welcomed the 130th year of education as the school embarked on the 2018-2019 academic year, Monday, September 3rd.  This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Health and Education Foundation’s existence. The opening day was a time of pride and celebration for all school administrators, teachers, parents, graduates, and students.

The prep class students and their parents, the newest additions to our family, had a uniquely exciting experience starting the year.

The entrance of the seniors to the ceremony area was, as in years past, very remarkable and the students transmitted energy, enthusiasm and fun to everyone attending.

Our senior students, as they do every year, posted the visuals which reflect their feelings and mottos for the year, with the younger grades also joining them in singing the traditional TAC chant, Efsane, and the “BOM”.

In this year’s opening ceremony we had the honor of hosting Ms. Binnur Karademir, General Manager of the Health and Education Foundation. The opening remarks were shared by Principal Ms. Günseli Yüksel, our Headmaster Mr. Andrew Leathwood, and Ms. Karademir, who provided valuable messages to students and parents.

Ms. Yüksel addressed the students, recommending them to first find out about the school culture and then to join the activities and social life at TAC. She asked them to be mindful of the value of their amazing years at TAC. She added that TAC is a privileged school in Turkey, the graduates of which will help shape the future of Turkey and the world. Reading more, learning more and using initiative would be the keys in becoming one of these graduates, as well as being a good team player and improving their social skills.

Also in the opening ceremony, the TAC Alumni Association presented awards to students from every grade level who exemplify the TAC spirit of excellence  with their involvement in community service, arts, sports and many other areas, thus achieving the highest TAC Honor Points in their grade.

The ceremony ended with the introduction of the new teachers who joined the TAC staff this year.

We wish every member of the TAC family a great 2018-2019 academic year!
