College Day Event
On Friday, October 12th, Tarsus American College hosted its annual College Day event. This year’s TAC students were able to meet with nineteen university representatives from eleven different countries. The day started with 12th Grade IB students welcoming each representative with a TAC gift bag, consisting of a TAC t-shirt and customized TAC pen, with the built-in flash drive containing the current TAC High School Profile. The representatives were then shown to the Student Lounge where they were able to freshen up from their travels with traditional Turkish beverages and pastries.
Twelve university representatives each provided individual classroom sessions throughout periods 3, 4, and 5. During this time, students were divided into and rotated amongst twelve different locations. During this time, students had the opportunity to listen to three different university representatives discuss the specific academic, social, and career, options, as well as the admissions requirements from the specific universities.
As students went to lunch, some were able to join the university representatives and develop a deeper understanding of what university life has to offer. Following lunch, as the first rain of the season began to fall, the College Fair was set up under the covered basketball court next to the Leadership Building. Here, students and parents were able to spend the remainder of the day meeting various university representatives and learning more about what each has to offer. Students and parents left the College Fair with university brochures, writing pens and other gifts provided by the representatives. More importantly, those in attendance left with a better understanding of post-secondary options available around the world, as well as university contacts with whom they may reach out to for further inquiry.
