TAC Mourns the Death of ATATURK

November 10, 9:05: when all hearts skip a beat as we mourn the passing the Turkish nation’s great leader, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The commemorative assembly prepared by the Second Foreign Language Department was a scene to a height of emotions. The ceremony started with observing a moment of silence and continued with the touching remarks of Orhan Baycık.

The slideshow prepared by the students reflected the importance of the day. Following Sude Ekici's poem “Atatürk’e”, the oratorio “We are the Soldiers of Mustafa Kemal” took the scene, and then, a short mise-en-scène about Atatürk and the campaign for independence. Atilla İlhan's poem “Mustafa Kemal” was recited, which had on the background a musical piece played by Cenk Çeken. Aysel Büyükkardeş’ singing “Ben Seni Görmeden Sevdim” (I Loved You Without Seeing You) was accompanied on the piano played by Zeynep Levent as well as the TAC string ensemble. At the end of the program, the students performed the drama piece “Atatürk Olmak” (Becoming Atatürk).
