Prep Science Students

The week of January 14-18 Prep Science students had time in class to explore chemistry and to prepare for the next term. Students were allowed to try out online interactive simulations which demonstrate steps in the scientific method. They explored using interactive programs that encourage students to ask questions and observe, form a hypothesis, and experiment themselves.  One simulation required students to review the periodic table that they recalled learning in Grade 8.  Through the use of technology they will continue to study and deepen their knowledge of these important skills during the Prep year and this will help them to prepare for high school chemistry. Other activities from PhET Interactive Simulations allowed users to build an atom, observe changes to the state of matter, or notice changes in frequency.
