Mission Possible”

On May 8, 2019, two groups of 10th Graders from TAC pitched their ideas at the Mission Possible Competition. Both groups from TAC successfully delivered their presentations in English before a jury panel at the Foundation headquarters in Istanbul.  This was the second year of the Mission Possible Competition, an initiative sponsored by the SEV Foundation who awarded both groups 5000tl for the implementation of the projects.

Two groups of 10th Graders represented TAC at the second annual event.  One group from 10C consisted of Nil Mürşitoğlu, Zeynep Eylül Özdoğan, and Nisan Zeynep Kurşun.  The group's project, "Pathways," aims to create a bridge between alumni and current SEV high school students via an online college admission platform designed to provide counseling advice specific to TAC/SEV students and plan to create a platform where alumni connect with prospective university students to seek first-hand advice and support.  The students reported the preparation process for the project, which started in English class was challenging yet informative as they worked through the whole process from idea generation to final preparation before presenting.

The second group of students from the 10A class consisted of Tuvana Yalçın, Sila Kütük, Bilge Uz, Zeynep Dila Apaydın, Zeynep Tekeli, Sezen Ok, and Beyza Koç began the project as a homework assignment in Mr. Corson's English class. The group gave their first presentation in English class, then in front of a TAC teacher committee and lastly in Istanbul before the SEV Board. It was a long and challenging process, but it was worth it after all. Now, the students report they have a better opportunity to spread awareness about a topic that interests them. Here's what the students had to say about their experience.

"We were so excited when we saw the assignment. We had a lot of freedom about both the topic and how we could present it. So we took our chances. We had a lot of fun through all the filmmaking, crafting and even writing, basically creating. So we chose the topic 'ignorance' and reflected our ideas through art. We will continue our project, and we hope to reach out to many other people and make a change. It only takes one". The group created an Instagram account to promote the project.
