The Academy Awards of TAC: Golden Stickler Film Festival

Golden Stickler Film Festival, which has become an integral part of TAC’s school culture aims to increase students' interest in the art of filmmaking. With continued interest from our students, parents and teachers, we hosted the sixth year of the Festival on 30 May 2019. TAC’s film teacher Mr. Eray Biçer organized the event which was supported by Professor Senem Ayşe Duruel Erkılıç and Assc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Erkılıç from Mersin University’s Radio and Television Department serving in the jury panel.

The award evening started with the red carpet ceremony and continued with the unique performance of Echo. The audience held their breath when it finally was the time to announce the nominees and the winners. Among 9 short films which were produced with diligence and artistic concerns, the dystopic ‘The Sky is Red’, written and directed by our Grade 10 student Ömer Güzel, received the Best Film award. Best Editing and Best Cinematography awards went to “Stabat Matter”, a film by Melike Çağla Alpay, Cevahir Bozkurt and Lavinya Yeke, depicting the life of an autistic child.

Following the award ceremony, the night continued with a cocktail as the guests took snapshots on the steps of the elegantly decorated Stickler building and had the opportunity to talk about the films featured in the festival.
