Visiting Leukemia at Adana

Prep, Grade 9 & 10 ( December 26, 2015)

A Visit of Hope

On Saturday, TAC’s Turkish Literature Department accompanied the students on a trip to visit the children with leukemia at Adana Acıbadem Hospital. The group led by Turkish literature teachers Tuba Karabağ and Sermin Yılmaz, who had previously picked some gifts to share with the children with the funds generated from bake sales, acted as the personal Santas of these young hearts waiting in hope. They brought a toy car to one-year old Mustafa, and although we could not see clearly from the medical mask covering half of his face, caused a big smile and a glimpse of hope for a recorvery. This too gave us hope that Mustafa can recover from his illness and continue smiling like this for the rest of his life.  We have been able to infect them with something good this time, we hoped, reaching out to them from outside of their hospital room with a fresh promise.
