What is Happiness?

In the philosophy talks we will start on Thursday, 25 March at 20:00, we will discuss the concept of "happiness". In these talks where we will explore the connection between happiness and philosophy from the antic ages to the present, we will hear interviews with Andre Comte-Sponville, Jean Delumeau and Arlette Farge about happiness. “We want happiness from life, so much that we sometimes spend our whole life waiting for it,” says Alice Germain, the interviewer. Our discussions will be centered around these questions: What is happiness? Are there any 100% guaranteed strategies or recipes for happiness? Has happiness become almost a necessity today? Are we now in a position to talk about ‘the freedom to be unhappy’? Can happiness lack morals? Does evil and vice bring true happiness? Is it freedom or boundaries which make us happy? Should we forsake reality to be happy? Do we want to be happy or rather, for happiness to be eternal? We invite all students who have an opinion or who just want to listen to the discussions.
