İnternational DNA Day at TAC

TAC’s Science Department, under the leadership of biology teachers, celebrated the  International DNA Day on April 25 with online activities which involved prep, 9th and 10th graders.

The activity started with an entertaining video about the structure, functions and the processing of DNA. It continued with a quiz which saw a fun competition among the students.

In order to put their knowledge and perspectives to use, students were divided into groups and looked for answers to various questions about DNA. The responses were quite impressive and it can be seen that they keep up-to-date with DNA related research.

The activity continued with a video about by whom, how and where DNA was discovered, and after the video, students created their own DNA models using various materials. Finally, they reinforced their learning through an activity on Edpuzzle.

The International DNA Day celebrations, which were very enjoyable for both teachers and students, not only furthered student interest in the subject, it was also a good exercise of sharing knowledge for students thanks to the interaction between grade levels.
