In our Philosophy Talk; Michel Foucault's book "History of Madness".
In our philosophy talk on Thursday evening, April 22 at 20:00, we discussed the concept of "Madness", referencing Michel Foucault's book "History of Madness". In this discussion, we talked about the history of madness and confinement from classical ages to the present; how madness was considered a part of everyday life in the Middle Ages as these people freely wandered around the streets, but then in the 18th century they started to be seen as dangerous and were isolated in lunatic asylums where they were named ‘mad’ in the period, how they were first separated by walls from the ‘others’, how modern medicine defines madness and the origin of this definition.
